Recently I was driving through our little town and saw flashing blue lights in the rear view mirror of my mini van. I signaled and pulled over just past the next farm. I’ve never had a ticket before so I was understandably nervous. The officer asked to see my license and registration and like any careful driver I had them readily available and handed him both.
The next thing I know he asked me to step out of the car. What! I wasn’t even speeding. Great, now I’m standing on the side of our little country road in mom shorts, barely brushed hair and my Jesus Supports The Trinity School P.T.A. T-shirt. Needless to say, I started to freak out. He said, “I need to see your license and registration.” I was flustered and confused and replied, “That is my license and registration.” He proceeded to grill me on my name, address, etc. Finally he replied, “This photo is NOT you ma’am.” It was then that I realized what the problem was.
The photo on my driver’s license is of me at 275 pounds! It’s a Veterans license and it’s good until I’m 65 so I didn’t bother to get a new photo taken. I started laughing and said, “Oh my gosh! Thank you so much!” I told him of my recent weight loss as he continued to proclaim that the photo didn’t look a thing like me. He was impressed with my weight loss story and congratulated me on my success.
I know that people have flirted their way out of traffic tickets but I never thought my Lap-Band would get me out of one!
P.S. I just had a burnt out tail light, no ticket was issued.
